Sir Ian Botham Biography,career Records and HD wallpapers

Botham was born 24 November 1955 in Heswall, England. He is a famous test cricketer and test cricket team caption. He is current cricket commentator. Botham was a genuine all-rounder with fourteen centuries and 383 wickets in test cricket,and remains well-know by his nickname "Beefy". While a controversial player both on and off the field at times, He also held a number of test cricket records,and still holds the record for the highest number of wickets taken by an England bowler. Botham is generally regarded as being England's greatest ever all-rounder, Particularly in test cricket,although having earned celebrity status,Botham award of a Knighthood was in recognition of his services to charity. Just like fellow cricketers Denis Compton,Jim Cumbes and Arnold Side bottom,He was also a talented footballer,and made 11 appearances in the Football League.
On eight August 2009,He was indicted into the ICC cricket Hall of Fame. Botham parents played cricket.He went to Milford Junior School in Yeovil,somerset,where his "love affair"with sport began,and played for Somerset Under-15s. Botham left Bucklers Mead Comprehensive School at the age of fifteen years,intent on playing cricket for the Somereset County cricket Club, although he also had an offer to play football for Crystal Palace F.C. From an early age botham was always single-minded. When informed that he wanted to be a sportsman,the careers Mistress at his school said to ohm,"Fine, everyone wants to play sport,but what are you really going to do?"
In first-class cricket,Botham scored 19,399 runs at 33.97,took 1,172 wickets at 27.22 and held 354 catches. Botham played for Durham, Somerset and Worcestershire,as well as a season 1987/88 in Australia playing for the Queensland Bulls. He began his first-class career in 1974 with somerset. In that year,when playing vs Hampshire and facing the West Indian fast bowler Andy Roberts,a bouncer hit him straight in the mouth. Botham spat out teeth and simply carried on. In 1986 he resigned from Somerest, protest vs the sacking of his friends Sir Viv Richards and Joel Garner,and joined Worcestershire,playing for that country between 1987 till 1991. In 1992, Botham joined Country Championship newcomers Durham before retiring midway through the 1993 season, his last match being Durham's match vs the visiting Australian XI.  He made his test start for England on twenty eight July 1977 in the 3rd test vs Australia,where he took 5 wickets for 74 runs in the 1st innings. Botham went on to enjoy a test career spanning fifteen years, in which he played in 102 matches. He finished his test career with 5,200 runs at an average of 33.54,taking 383 wickets at an average of 28.40,and holding 120 catches. Botham ia generally regarded as one of England's greatest test players. Botham was also England cricket team caption for 12 tests in 1980/81. As caption of the England XI, he is generally considered to have been unsuccessful. Botham tenure was brief and under his captaincy the team achieved no wins,eight draws and four losses, In his deference, nine of his matches as captain were against the best team of that era,the West Indies,who won twelve out of next thirteen tests played vs England. Botham was renowned as a big-hitting batsman, thought with a classical technique of playing straight,and as a fast-medium paced swing bowler who could be very effective when atmospheric conditions favored his style.
He holds a number of test records as an all-rounder, including being the fastest achieve the "doubles" of 1,000 runs and hundred wickets, 2,000 runs and 200 wickets,and 3,000 runs and 300 wickets. Botham briefly held the world record for the greatest number of test wickets, although his tally has subsequently been passed by several specialist bowlers. He scored a 100 and took five wickets in an inning in the same test match on five occasions,no-one else has managed this feat more than twice. In 1980, playing vs India,he became the first player to score a 100 and taken 10 wickets in a test match. During the 1981 Ashes, He set a record of 6 sixes in a single Ashes test match at Old Trafford. That record remained unbroken until seven August 2005 when Andrew Flintoff scored 5 in the first innings and 4 in the second innings of the 2nd test at Edgbaston,and again until twelve September 2005,when Kevin Pierersen hit 7 sixes in the 2nd innings of the last test at the Oval.  His one day international career included 116 matches from 1976 till 1992.
